PISQians showcased their literary and artistic talents during a school-based celebration of the 89th Philippine National Book Week, held last November 5-25, 2023, under the theme “Read, Reread, Relive!”. This event was organized by the dedicated staff of the school library, underscoring their commitment to fostering a love of reading and nurturing creativity among students.
Students from Preschool to Intermediate actively participated in the “Making Reading A Habit: A Promotional Photo Contest.” The response was overwhelming, with a total of 79 entries from the Preschool category, 36 entries from Primary, and 17 entries from Intermediate. The young minds exhibited creativity and enthusiasm, capturing the essence of the theme through compelling visuals that celebrated the joy of reading with their families.
Meanwhile, the Junior High School students showcased their love for books and reading through the “For the love of Books and Reading: Haiku Writing and Photo Contest.” A total of 27 entries poured in, each encapsulating the beauty and depth of literature in the form of haiku. A reflection of the students’ profound connection with the written word.
In the Senior High School category, the “I Read, I Spoke, I Conquered! A Spoken Word Poetry Contest”, four contestants submitted their powerful spoken word entries. Despite the smaller number of entries, the impact of their words was immeasurable.
The culmination of these contests took place during the per department morning assembly from December 3 to December 7, 2023, where the winners were awarded with certificates and gifts.
The library extends its heartfelt gratitude to the administration, faculty, staff, and parents for their unwavering support, which played a pivotal role in the success of the event. The collaboration and encouragement from all PISQians undoubtedly fostered an environment where the students could thrive and showcase their talents.
Congratulations to all the participants and winners!
